"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."
-Robert Frost
Our journey from the deep south (Florida to be exact) to the great northwest has not always been a dream of ours. In 2009, shortly after our 3rd baby was born, we began searching for alternative avenues. We wanted a different life for our kids...we wanted to return to "ancient paths". Simplicity. An organic garden. Off grid power. Self sustainability.
We began our search for property, and in the summer of 2010 my husband found a piece that he fell in love with online. He made a weekend trip to check it out and as he walked the land, he imagined our lives there. He was sold, and hoped that GOD would make a way for us to move...and HE did.
In January 2011, we made our 2,800 mile move.
I sit here now, a year later...looking out the front window of an off-grid cabin in the woods. The snow is falling. The kids are playing. I'm rocking in the chair next to the wood burning stove. Life couldn't be sweeter. Sure this is "the road less taken", it's not easy or desired by most...but it's the road we took...and we haven't looked back.
